There were some Tough geese at the Tough Guy in 2010!
Having completed the race three years running it was time for me to pay back some of the support that I had got in my three races and I went along without participating this year.
The weather threw in some interesting challenges and the leaders had to smash a layer of ice as they waded along in the water.
It was definitely with mixed emotions that I stood on the sideline. On one hand it was great to see the race from the side and have some time to take photos, but on the other hand the urge to participate was strong and as I stood there I wished I was participating.
However on a philosophical level I have to realise that the overall goal of this season is in May and in November and that is when I have to be healthy, injury free and prepared; and if I had participated in the Tough Guy this year, I would had probably pushed my luck.
It was great to see the boys at Ben’s school put in such great effort. Boys between 16 – 18 showed a no-fear attitude and many of them successfully completed the challenging course! Hats off!!
